DATA PRODUCT LEAD
I'm a data nerd with roots in environmental management, now building innovative data products that help people make better decisions across diverse sectors and geographies. I am driven by curiosity and passionate about applying innovation to solve pressing global challenges. Currently, I'm mapping humanity at Fraym. When I'm not nerding out over data, you can find me climbing small rocks, whipping up a New York Times cooking recipe, or playing with clay.
At Fraym, I bridge strategy and engineering to build dashboards that make complex data accessible and actionable. As part of a lean team, I wear many hats, from user research and stakeholder alignment to hands-on development. I’ve delivered data visualization tools that drive impact across energy access, public health, food security, civic engagement, and information operations.
One of my favorite projects was spearheading the development of the U.S. Adult Vaccine Uptake Dashboard for the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases, which attracted over 500 users within six months of launch. Since then, organizations like Louisiana Families for Vaccines have used it to design and target vaccine confidence campaigns.
Building geospatial products at this scale means navigating real complexity. On the technical side, it means wrangling massive vector files and harmonizing messy, frequently updated datasets. On the human side, it means reconciling competing priorities across stakeholders with very different needs.
In a previous chapter, I managed a $1M global portfolio of research initiatives examining the health and climate impacts of clean cooking technologies.
I led cross-sector partnerships with governments and organizations in Ghana and Nepal to build digital planning tools for expanding clean energy access, including the Nepal Energy Access Explorer.
A large part of my role was translating technical research findings into compelling narratives for a wide range of stakeholders across the energy accesss sector. This work was publicly recognised when our team won the 2022 Esri StoryMaps competition.
I complemented my project management role with technical contributions to the development of OnStove, a spatial modeling tool that quantifies the net benefits of different clean cooking technologies against a defined baseline. This work contributed to co-authorship of a publication in The Lancet.
As an avid rock climber in the New River Gorge, I volunteer with the New River Alliance of Climbers. Most recently, I collaborated with a small team to build a climbing access map for their website, supporting responsible access and stewardship of local climbing areas.
"Alicia brings insatiable curiosity and a truly creative mind to all her work. Coupled with her extremely fast uptake of cutting-edge tools, Alicia can be counted on to find a path through even the trickiest projects. As a designer, I know I can rely on her user experience instincts and keen eye for detail throughout a development timeline. She's adept at managing scope, aligning teams, and keeping track of shifting deadlines. Alicia's dedicated to her craft, a pleasure to work with, and an invaluable asset on any team."
